The name Sircilla is derived from sirishala meaning centre of wealth. It is called Rajanna Sircilla district after its separation from Karimnagar district. It is a combination of Sircilla and Vemulawada towns. Vemulawada is a tourist place due to the presence of Rajanna(Lord Shiva) Temple also known as “Dakshina Kasi”. Maneru River is famous for its dam in which stored water is been supplied to the town. Lakshmi Narasimha Swamy temple at Nampally is equally attracting tourists.

The greatness of cloth making specially handloom made saree of 7meters, and presenting it in a match box to a British lady during the British rule in India was actually from the Sircilla handloom workers. The fine work of the handloom workers was later been appreciated worldwide.

Sircilla is well known for its handlooms and powerlooms so known as textile town.
