Implementation of Facial Recognition in Government Schools

RSD- Telangana news:It is natural for the teachers to record the attendance of the students in the attendance register on coming to the school. Henceforth, registration of students’ attendance through attendance registers will be stopped in government schools in Telangana state. Students’ attendance will be recorded through a specially designed DSE FRS app using artificial intelligence.

In the states of Gujarat, Delhi, Nagaland and Andhra Pradesh, attendance of students is being registered through facial recognition system. Telangana government has thought in that direction and created a special app with modern technology. Some schools have been selected as a pilot project and have achieved successful results.
The Education Department has decided to register attendance through FRS (Facial Recognition System) across the state.

There are 26074 Mandal Parishad Zilla Parishad Schools, 194 Model Schools, 495 Kasturiba Gandhi Girls Vidyalayas, 31 Urban Residential Schools and 1002 Welfare Gurukuls.

1911906 students in 26,819 government schools across Telangana state are studying from class one to class ten in the current academic year. All these details and their photos should be entered in DSE FRS app.

Biometric system was implemented for student attendance in some districts of the state till Corona. After that the biometric method was stopped.

Attendance registration of students and teachers through facial recognition system will soon be started in all government schools in Telangana state. At present, students’ details and photos are stored in the app.

Tabs have already been distributed to the teachers working in all government schools in the state. One tab has been distributed to schools with less than 1000 students and two tabs have been distributed to schools with more than 1000 students.

If the FRS app is installed and scanned based on the camera, the app will recognize the students’ faces and record the attendance. This data will immediately reach the command center of education department set up at the state level online. This will make monitoring of schools easier by mandal, district and state level officials.

First, the app registers the personal photos of the students with their details. When the class teacher opens the smart phone or tab camera and scans the entire class, the FRS application uses cognitive artificial intelligence and compares it with the images in the data base.
On the basis of the respective cover pictures, how many attended the class that day and how many were absent from time to time and Issue alerts.

Facial recognition attendance has been successfully implemented for students and facial recognition attendance is also going to be implemented for teachers in place of biometrics.

Presently biometric system is implemented in 15 districts of the state for teacher attendance. Attendance of teachers and students are sent daily by Principals in all districts through T Hajar mobile app.

We all know that Telangana state already has police command control center and medical and health department control centers unlike any other state in the country. In the same way, a command control center will be established in the education department. The supervision will be centralized at the state level. Information exchange is going to be easier.

There are many benefits of command control center henceforth it helps to increase the monitoring of the campuses.
Daily attendance of teachers and students can be easily checked at different levels. It is known what kind of infrastructure facilities are available in the schools and what needs to be new.

It can be monitored whether textbooks and note books, two pairs of uniforms provided free of charge by the government to the students of the state are being provided to all. Ragi Jawa, midday meal will make it easier to know how many students are having lunch and how many are not. Students progress report, results and teacher attendance can be reviewed. There is also a possibility to monitor the training of teachers from different levels.

Monitoring the attendance of students and teachers becomes very easy through facial recognition system. Once the data of the students is entered in the facial recognition system, the details will be useful until the completion of their future studies. It can be known with certainty whether the funds released from the government are being received properly by the students. The use of modern technology in government institutions is admirable.
