Case registration at the victim’s doorstep via ‘On-site FIR’

RSD-Sircilla news: The District SP Mahesh B. Gite, IPS stated that the Telangana Police Department has taken a significant step forward with the objective of providing faster and more convenient police services to the public. Acting on the directives of the State DGP, he announced that the “On-site FIR” system a mechanism wherein police visit victims directly to register an FIR, thereby eliminating the need for them to visit a police station is being implemented across the entire district for specific categories of crimes. The SP noted that this initiative was introduced with the specific intent of ensuring that visiting a police station does not become an additional burden for victims who are already enduring physical and psychological distress in the aftermath of a crime. He confirmed that this system is currently operational in all police stations throughout the district. Furthermore, he revealed that 12 cases have already been registered in the district utilizing this new procedure. Upon receiving information, police personnel immediately reach the scene of the incident and record the complaint directly from the victims. Whether complainants contact the police by dialing ‘100’ or provide information directly, the police respond promptly and register the FIR online using tablet devices. In incidents involving injuries such as road accidents or altercations immediate medical assistance is provided to the injured parties, who are subsequently transported to a hospital. This “On-site FIR” system facilitates the immediate registration of cases such as road accidents, altercations, thefts, marital disputes, harassment, and suspicious deaths directly at the scene of the incident. District SP Mahesh B. Githe stated that this initiative not only ensures the delivery of speedy justice to victims but also further enhances public trust in police services.
