Man sentenced 2 years jail and fined for harassing a woman

RSD-Sircilla news: A woman from Subhash Nagar, whose husband had gone to Saudi Arabia for work, has two daughters and three sons. She complained that a man from her community, Md. Majeed, was harassing her with malicious intent, following her wherever she went, calling her from various phone numbers, and subjecting her to harassment. When she complained to the elders of her community, they reprimanded him, and he stopped for a few days. After a few days, he resumed his old behaviour, following her with malicious intent, demanding that she talk to him on the phone and fulfill his desires, and harassing her. On February 22nd, 2021, while she was going to a beedi company, Majeed followed her near Yella Lakshminarayana’s house in Subhash Nagar, Siricilla, grabbed her hand, and demanded that she talk to him on the phone and fulfill his desires, threatening to kill her if she refused, thus tarnishing her reputation. The woman from Subhash Nagar filed a complaint at the Siricilla police station. The then Sub-Inspector G. Sudhakar registered an FIR, arrested the accused, Md. Majeed, son of Yusuf, and remanded him to custody. Subsequently, the Sub-Inspector filed a charge sheet in the court. Later, under the supervision of CMS Sub-Inspector Shravan, court constable Vemula Naresh presented seven witnesses in court. Public Prosecutor Chelumala Sandeep argued on behalf of the prosecution, and after examining the case details, Judge A. Praveen sentenced the accused, Md. Majeed, to two years imprisonment and imposed a fine of 6000 rupees, as stated in a press release by Siricilla Town Inspector K. Krishna.
