Police took retired employees into preventive custody

RSD-Sircilla news: On 04.01.2026 night, Sircilla town police took Rajanna Sircilla District Employees Association District President Mallarapu Purushotham, General Secretary Dhyanapalli Ramesh, and Secretary Maddikunta Lakshman into preventive custody to prevent them from participating in the ‘Chalo Assembly’ program aimed at securing the arrears owed to retired employees. On this occasion, District Retired Employees Association District President Mallarapu Purushotham said that although approximately 20,500 employees have retired in the state since March 2024, many have not yet received the arrears owed to them by the government. He stated that despite holding protests, demonstrations, and hunger strikes to bring this to the government’s attention, there has been no response from the government. He added that as a last resort, the state leadership organized the ‘Chalo Assembly’ program on 05.01.2026. He further stated that even though MLAs and MLCs raised this issue in the Assembly, the government is adopting an evasive attitude regarding the arrears of retired employees. Therefore, he appealed to the government, Chief Minister Revanth Reddy, and the Deputy Chief Minister and Finance Minister to respond immediately and pay the arrears to the retired employees in a lump sum.
