TPTF Massive Protest

RSD-Sircilla news: Under the aegis of the Rajanna Sircilla District Branch of the Telangana Private Teachers Federation (TPTF) and in response to a call issued by the State Committee a protest demonstration was organized 24.03.2026 at the local Ambedkar Chowk. This demonstration was conducted under the leadership of TPTF District President Dumala Ramanath Reddy and District General Secretary Vikkurthi Anjaiah. Speaking on the occasion, District President Dumala Ramanath Reddy stated that in the budget presented by the State Government on March 20th 2026, a mere Rs.26,674 crores was allocated to the education sector. The Kothari Commission, back in 1964, recommended that 30 percent of the state budget be allocated to education, similarly, the recent Telangana Education Commission also recommended an allocation of 18 percent. Furthermore, in its election manifesto, the government had pledged to allocate 15 percent of funds to education. In stark contrast to these commitments, the State Government has allocated only 8.22 percent. Numerous reports are raising alarm over the rapid decline in student enrollment in government schools and the deteriorating standards of education. Due to the poor physical infrastructure and conditions within these schools, parents are increasingly turning towards private educational institutions. Under these circumstances, it is an undeniable reality that we cannot provide quality pre-primary, primary, and secondary education to students with such meager and inadequate funding.” The teaching community is currently facing severe mental and financial distress due to several factors, the failure to allocate funds in this budget for the release of pensionary benefits to teachers who retired since March 2024, the resulting disappointment among teachers who have been awaiting the clearance of various financial bills, the State Assembly’s failure to offer a solution regarding the abolition of the contract teacher system, a system characterized by labor exploitation within the education sector and the continued delay in announcing the new PRC (Pay Revision Commission) fitment, despite two years having elapsed.
Under these unavoidable circumstances, the ‘Vidya Ranga Vimochana Vedika’ (Forum for the Liberation of the Education Sector) organized a protest demonstration on 24.03.2026 at the local Ambedkar Chowk. Their objective was to demand that the government take the necessary initiative to resolve teacher’s issues and to allocate 20 percent of the state budget specifically for the education sector, thereby fostering its development and ensuring equitable education for all. The forum has put forth the following demands:
Demands:
1. A minimum of 20 percent of the state budget must be allocated to the education sector.
2. The PRC fitment must be announced immediately, and necessary funds must be allocated in the budget.
3. The pensionary benefits due to retired teachers must be released as a lump sum.
4. The CPS (Contributory Pension Scheme) must be abolished, and the Old Pension Scheme (OPS) must be immediately extended to teachers recruited under the 2003 DSC (District Selection Committee) notification.
5. All pending bills and Dearness Allowance (DA) arrears due to teachers must be released.
6. The system of employing contract teachers within the education sector must be abolished. These teachers must be granted minimum time scales, and future recruitment within the sector must be conducted on a regular, permanent basis.
7. Cashless medical facilities should also be extended to teachers at KGBV, Model Schools, Tribal Ashram Schools, and Residential Schools.
District Vice-Presidents Srinivas Reddy, Krishna Chaitanya, Devender, Sridhar, Vasudeva Rao, Tirupati, Ramachandram, Basa Rajender, Krishna Venu, Bandi Upender, Madhusudan, Rajini Rani, and Yellareddy participated in this program.
