Protect Mental Health, Says Psychologist Punnachander at World Mental Health Week Program

RSD_SSircilla: As part of World Mental Health Week celebrations, the Mind Care and Counseling Center, Government General Hospital, Sircilla, conducted an awareness and counseling session on mental health protection for workers at the Textile Park on Thursday.

Renowned psychologist K. Punnachander led the session and educated workers on the importance of mental well-being.

Speaking on the occasion, he said equal importance should be given to mental health along with physical health. Work pressure, financial and family issues, sleeplessness, overthinking, and anxiety affect mental health.

He advised not to ignore symptoms like prolonged sadness, irritability, anxiety, fear, changes in sleep and appetite, lack of concentration, loss of interest in work, and desire to stay isolated. If such issues persist, expert help should be sought.

For protection of mental health, he suggested healthy habits like adequate sleep, regular exercise, nutritious food, staying away from alcohol, tobacco and addictions, and sharing problems with family and friends.

He said mental health issues should not be seen as weakness, and seeking counseling and medical help is a healthy decision.

Workers facing mental health issues can contact Mind Care and Counseling Center, Government General Hospital, Sircilla.

Community Facilitator Vemula Markandeyulu asked workers to utilize government Nethanna Bheema and Thrift schemes.

Staff of Mind Care Center and workers participated.
