24 sentenced to jail and 63 fined who were caught in drunk driving

RSD-Vemulawada news: As per the orders of the District SP, a drunk and drive check was conducted in the town limits of Vemulawada Town Police Station. 87 drug addicts were caught. Vemulawada Police produced them in court on 22.11.2025. 24 drug addicts were sentenced to jail and 63 people were fined, Vemulawada Magistrate Jyothirmayi said in a statement.
Details of jail sentence and those who were caught
1.20 were sentenced to 3 days in jail each and a fine of Rs. 5,000/-.
2. 3 days in jail for each, fine of Rs. 3000/-
3. 3 days in jail for each, fine of Rs. 3500/-.
4. 2 to be sentenced to 05 days in jail, fine of Rs. 5000/- each.
5.61 to be sentenced and fine Rs. 2000 each.
6. One person to be sentenced and fined Rs. 3500/-
At the Vemulawada town police station, drug addicts who were caught drinking and driving were counseled under the supervision of Town Inspector Veera Prasad and Traffic SI Raju and they took a pledge not to drink alcohol and drive again. Speaking on the occasion, the CI said that every day, drink and drive checks and vehicle checks are conducted within the limits of the town police station, and strict action will be taken against people caught driving under the influence of alcohol. He said that those caught driving under the influence of alcohol will be given counseling in the presence of their parents or family elders. He warned that if they are caught driving under the influence of alcohol, future job opportunities and employment opportunities will be hampered during police verification, and legal action will be taken against them if they violate traffic and road safety rules and regulations.
