Rare anesthesia technique used for surgery at Vemulawada Government Regional Hospital

RSD-Vemulawada news: A 60-year-old woman from Jagtial district presented at the Vemulawada Government Regional Hospital with a breast lump. Having suffered from diabetes for many years, she also experienced difficulty in fully opening her mouth. Due to the unsuitability of administering general anesthesia, the standard protocol would have been to refer her to a major hospital, such as one in Hyderabad. However, acting on the advice of anesthesiologists DR. Tirupati and DR. Rajashree, Senior Surgeon DR. Penchalaiah decided to perform the surgery locally using a rare anesthesia technique. Together with his surgical team comprising DR. Mohan Krishna and DR. Alekhya and the anesthesiologists, the operation was successfully completed using Segmental Thoracic Epidural Anesthesia. Hospital Superintendent DR. Ravinder extended his congratulations to the team that performed the surgery. He noted that routine deliveries and surgical procedures are now being conducted at the hospital just as they were in the past, and he urged the public to utilize these available services. He also conveyed special appreciation to the other staff members who participated in the operation.
