RSD_Vengala Srinivas demands, beedi workers living allowances

RSD- Sircilla news: Speaking on the occasion, Bharatiya State Trade Union District President Vengala Srinivas said that the beedi industry is the largest industry after the agricultural sector. He said that almost 8 lakh beedi workers in Telangana depend on this industry for their livelihood. They say that if beedis are smoked, they will die. He said that a large number of women from rural to urban areas depend on this industry for their livelihood. He said that the central and state governments, which are supposed to protect this industry, are imposing many restrictions in debilitating methods and are harming the employment of beedi workers. He said that the credit goes to KCR for knowing the condition of beedi workers and providing them with a living allowance of Rs. 2016, which is unprecedented in the country. He said that it is sad that the Congress government, before coming to power, had made many promises to provide support to beedi workers by increasing their living allowance by Rs. 4000, but after coming to power for more than a year, this promise has not been fulfilled. He asked the government to protect the beedi industry by knowing the conditions of beedi workers and providing financial support by providing life insurance and ESI facilities to all workers with PF without any restrictions.
