Medical tests and distribution of medicines to workers

RSD- Sircilla news: On 15.07.2025 the Mind Care and Counseling Center, Government General Hospital and the District Medical Health Department organized a counseling and medical camp for the power loom workers in Nehrunagar, Sircilla, by renowned psychologist K. Punnamchander. The program was attended by DR. B. Praveen Kumar, Psychiatrist of the District Medical Health Department, who conducted medical tests and distributed medicines to the workers. On this occasion, DR. Praveen Kumar spoke to the workers about alcohol addiction and their health conditions, and after conducting medical tests and distributing medicines to the workers who wanted to quit alcohol. DR. Praveen Kumar said that alcohol addiction is a psychosomatic disorder. He said that due to its effect on the brain and nervous system, a person behaves strangely. He urged them to consult him at the government general hospital to get rid of bad habits, mental problems and diseases. Psychologist Punnamchander said that paranoidism increases in a person addicted to excessive alcohol. He said that due to this, suspicion of the wife’s morality and suspicion towards the wife increase, family relations break down. He explained that medicines and counseling are being arranged in every ward to get rid of addictions quickly. Punnamchander said that to avoid addictions like chewing tobacco, smoking beedi and cigarettes, one should consult the Mind Care Center. Stating that the government is taking all kinds of steps for the welfare of workers, he said that the government has introduced things like the Thrift Scheme, Netanna Bhima, Mahilashakti Saree Production Scheme and Yarn Subsidy. Psychologist K. Punnamchandar, textile manufacturer Sudarshan, Mind Care Center staff member Boora Srimathi and workers participated.
