20 Years Imprisonment for Accused in POCSO Case

RSD_Sircilla:In a sensational judgement, the Sircilla POCSO Court has sentenced an accused to 20 years of rigorous imprisonment and imposed a fine of Rs. 1000 in a case of sexual assault on a minor girl.
District SP Mahesh B. Githe informed that Judge Radhika Jaiswal pronounced the verdict on Friday.
According to police, the incident occurred under Ellareddypet Police Station limits. Based on the complaint lodged by the victim’s father, the then CI Bansilal registered a case against Chatur Singh Munna, a native of Madhya Pradesh, and sent him to remand. The then DSP Chandrashekhar investigated the case and filed the charge sheet.
Under the supervision of Court Monitoring SI Shravan Yadav, Court Constable Srinivas, Court Monitoring Constable Naveen and POCSO Court Constable Vennela produced 19 witnesses before the court. Public Prosecutor Jhansi argued on behalf of the prosecution. After examining the scientific evidence and witnesses, the Judge found the accused guilty and pronounced the punishment.
The SP said the police department gives top priority to women’s safety and urged women and girl students to contact police fearlessly if they face any harassment. He said no offender can escape the law and stringent punishment will be ensured through effective investigation and prosecution coordination.
The SP appreciated the then and present DSPs Chandrashekhar and Nagendra Chari, then and present CIs Bansilal and Venkatesh, Public Prosecutor Jhansi, Court Monitoring SI Shravan Yadav, Ellareddypet SI Ramesh, Court Constables Srinivas, Naveen, Vennela and Bharosa Centre Legal Support Person Laharika for their efforts in securing the conviction.
