Village Police Officer system must be strictly implemented

RSD-Yellareddypet news: On 01.04.2026, District SP Mahesh B. Gite paid a surprise visit to the Yellareddypet Police Station. During this visit, he conducted a comprehensive review of the records and details regarding cases registered within the station’s jurisdiction. He issued directives to avoid any negligence in case investigations, to expedite the completion of pending cases, and to strive to ensure that the accused are legally prosecuted and punished. He advised that the Village Police Officer (VPO) system be implemented rigorously to foster closer ties with the public, he urged officers to visit villages regularly, engage with the community, and actively involve them in crime prevention efforts. He further instructed that there should be no delays in addressing public grievances, and that immediate assistance must be provided to victims. He ordered the Blue Colt and patrolling vehicle personnel to take special measures to maintain law and order within the station limits, to respond immediately to ‘Dial 100’ calls, and to reach incident sites with utmost speed. He also emphasized the need to keep a close watch on known rowdy elements during their patrol duties.
Illegal sand transportation must be curbed
The SP issued strict orders to the officials to put an end to illegal sand transportation within the police station’s jurisdiction. On this occasion, the SP inspected the sand reach located at Padira, within the limits of the Yellareddypet Police Station, and inquired into the sand excavation procedures, transportation permits, and record-keeping practices. The SP warned that cases would be registered and the respective vehicles seized against anyone found engaging in illegal sand transportation or stockpiling.
Efforts must be made to install CCTV cameras
The SP stated that CCTV cameras are essential for crime control, theft prevention, and public safety. He directed officials to explain the importance of CCTV cameras to the residents and business owners in the villages within the Mandal limits, and to strive for their widespread installation.
