Central government announces 3 months of ration rice distributed at once

RSD- Bharat news: The central government has taken a key decision regarding ration card beneficiaries. In view of the upcoming summer season, it has decided to distribute three months of ration rice to the beneficiaries at once. The central civil supplies department has written letters to the states to ensure that the rice for these three months, April, May and June, 2026 is distributed in the month of April 2026 itself. The sun is scorching in the first week of March 2026. The Meteorological Department is predicting that temperatures are likely to be recorded high in the coming days. In this context, the central government has taken this decision keeping in mind the upcoming hot weather.
Concern over the capacity of the storage of fine rice:
Fine rice is being distributed to ration card beneficiaries in the state of Telangana across the country. The Telangana government is distributing 6 kg of fine rice per month to each beneficiary. The number of food security cards in the state has increased after the Congress government came to power. There are almost one crore cards. The Telangana government is examining the availability and feasibility of sufficient rice quota to that extent as the Centre has suggested to provide a quota sufficient for three months at a time.
Problems:
While the Centre is planning to distribute a quota for three months at a time, there are chances of facing many problems in view of past experiences. Last year, a quota of three months was distributed at a time during the monsoon season. At that time, both beneficiaries and ration dealers faced severe difficulties. By distributing a quota of three months of rice at a time, the cost of transportation charges will be reduced and there is a possibility of dealers and porters earning the same. But due to the lack of storage capacity of that rice, it has become a problem for dealers. Now, for three months, each cardholder has to give their thumb impression (thumb) 3 times. In addition, due to service problems, it is likely to take about 15-20 minutes for each card. The authorities have to resolve these problems.
