Hockey World Qualifying Tournament at Hyderabad

RSD-Telangana news: Telangana state is set to host another prestigious international sporting event. Under the visionary leadership of Chief Minister Anumula Revanth Reddy,
the Sports Department, in collaboration with the Federation Internationale de Hockey & Hockey India, is organizing the International Women’s Hockey World Cup Qualifiers 2026. The tournament will be held from March 8 to 14, 2026 on the newly installed world-class Astro Turf at the Gachibowli Hockey Stadium. The teams participating in this prestigious event include India, Austria, England, Italy, Korea, Scotland, Uruguay and Wales. The tournament will play a key role in determining the qualification for the FIH Women’s Hockey World Cup 2026. This international tournament is being hosted in Hyderabad for the first time. The Telangana Sports Authority is overseeing all the necessary arrangements for the event. Teams from India, Scotland and Uruguay have already reached Hyderabad. International standard accommodation and world-class facilities have been arranged for all the participating teams. In addition, special heritage tours and entertainment programmes have been planned for the athletes and international delegates visiting the city. Officials said that the strong support given by the state government to sports has enabled Telangana to successfully host several national and international tournaments, further promoting a vibrant sports culture in their state.
