Workers Must Adopt Healthy Habits, Quit Tobacco and Alcohol : Psychologist Punnamchander

RSD_Sircilla: Workers should adopt healthy habits and stay away from bad habits like tobacco and alcohol, said K. Punnamchander, Psychologist at Mind Care and Counseling Center.
A mental wellness awareness programme for workers was organized by Mind Care and Counseling Center at Jayaprakash Nagar on Wednesday.
Addressing the session, Punnamchander said many workers are falling prey to tobacco, beedi, alcohol and excessive tea due to work pressure, anxiety and family problems. While these may give temporary relief, they severely affect health in the long term.
He cautioned that changing lifestyles, unhealthy food habits and lack of physical activity are leading to rise in lifestyle diseases such as diabetes, hypertension, cardiac issues and certain cancers.
He advised workers to undergo regular health check-ups, follow a balanced diet, do regular physical exercise, get adequate sleep and avoid tobacco and alcohol.
He informed that Mind Care and Counseling Center offers daily counseling for stress, sleeplessness, family disputes, addictions and anxiety, and urged those in need to utilize the services.
