Dowry harassment case, one year imprisonment

RSD- Sircilla news: Sircilla Town First Class Judge Praveen announced the verdict on 23.04.2025, imposing a one-year prison sentence and a fine of two thousand rupees on a person in a case of harassing his wife for extra dowry, said Sircilla Town CI Krishna. The CI is speaking to this extent Karnabattula Padmavati, a resident of Siddula Vada, Sircilla Town, got married to Karnabattula Prem Sagar Rao 31 years ago. They have two children and a daughter who were also married. A person named Karnabattula Prem Sagar Rao worked as an AEE and was suspended. Since the suspension, he was addicted to drinking and used to ask for money for drinking and if not given he would beat her. On 27.01. 2017, at 2 pm, her husband came into the house and asked her to give him money, kicked the door of the house, cursed her and beat her with his hands. He was mentally and physically harassing her for money. Karunabattula Padmavathy filed a complaint against Karnabattula Prem Sagar Rao at the Sircilla Police Station and a case was registered. After the investigation, the investigating officer Liakat Ali filed a charge sheet in the court and the court constable Vemula Naresh, under the supervision of CMS RSI Shravan Yadav, presented six (6) witnesses. Public Prosecutor Chelumulla Sandeep argued on behalf of the prosecution, and Judge Praveen, who examined the circumstances of the case, sentenced the culprit, Karnabathula Prem Sagar Rao, to one year of rigorous imprisonment and a fine of two thousand rupees, said Sircilla Town CI Krishna.
