Government’s fine rice effect decreasing fine rice rates

RSD_ Decreasing fine rice rates in market

RSD- Telangana news: Rice prices in the market are gradually decreasing as the state government is ambitiously distributing fine rice to white ration card holders. Till March month 2025, fine quality rice prices ranged from Rs.6,500 to Rs.5,800 per quintal. Now the price is less than Rs.5,000 per quintal. After the Congress came to power, it encouraged the cultivation of fine rice. It announced a bonus of Rs.500 per quintal for fine rice. With this, both the government and the millers competed and bought fine rice. As the supply increased, traders reduced the prices of fine rice. During the previous BRS regime, when ration card holders were distributed with large quantities of rice, the poor could not eat it and sold it in the market to buy fine rice. Due to this, the prices of fine rice increased drastically. 2025 Ugadi, the Congress government launched a fine rice distribution scheme for the poor. On the other hand, the quality of the fine rice distributed was also good, so beneficiaries flocked to ration shops like never before to buy fine rice. Almost 80 percent of the distribution has already been completed in the districts. The government is supplying six kg of fine rice to each beneficiary with a ration card. There are a total of 29,28,549 beneficiaries in the joint Nalgonda district, and 17,869 metric tons of fine rice will be distributed every month. In the past, when the Doddu type rice was distributed, the beneficiaries sold it to ration dealers, so there was a large-scale recycling. Currently, the beneficiaries are using only the fine rice, so there is no interest in buying it in the market. Currently, due to the decrease in demand for fine rice, new rice was sold for Rs. 5,000 to Rs. 6,000 per quintal. BPT Sona was sold for Rs. 5,400, RNR for Rs. 5,400, HMT for Rs. 5,600, and Jai Shri Ram for Rs. 5,500. Old rice was sold for Rs. 5,800 to Rs. 6,500. Compared to March month 2025, new rice is currently being sold in the market for Rs. 4,000 to Rs. 5,000 depending on the type. In April  month 2025, prices have decreased from Rs. 400 to Rs. 600 per quintal.
