Hyderabad Metro Rail Ticket Prices Hike
RSD-Hyderabad news: Hyderabad Metro Company L&T Metro has decided to increase the prices of rail tickets. It has been revealed that the increased prices will come into effect from 17.05.2025. An official statement was issued to this effect.The current minimum fare is Rs. 10. It has been increased to Rs. 12. The maximum fare is Rs. 60. It has been increased to Rs. 75. It is learnt that the Metro fares have been increased due to increasing operational costs. Metro officials had earlier revealed that the Metro is facing losses due to the decrease in the number of passengers due to the Covid pandemic.In addition to that the free bus travel scheme introduced by the state government has also had a serious impact on the Metro Rail revenue. Due to this, the Metro officials have decided to increase the fares as the only way out.It is estimated that the Metro Rail Company will get an additional income of Rs. 150 – Rs. 200 crore due to this fare increase. Officials believe that the fare hike will help in maintaining metro services and improving infrastructure.However, this decision will put a financial burden on ordinary commuters. While the prices of essential commodities are already skyrocketing, the increase in metro fares will cause them financial hardship.Meanwhile, under Section 34 of the Metro Railways Act, 2002, a Fare Fixation Committee (FFC) headed by a former High Court judge has been formed to recommend the revised fare structure, Metro officials said in a statement.
