Life Imprisonment for Accused in Vemulawada Murder Case : Sircilla Court Delivers Landmark Verdict
RSD_Vemulawada: The District Principal Sessions Court on Friday sentenced Korepu Rajkumar to life imprisonment and imposed a fine of Rs. 10,000 in a murder case registered under Vemulawada Town Police Station limits.
According to police, Korepu Rajkumar, resident of Gandhinagar, Vemulawada, had long-standing disputes with Pudari Srinivas Goud. On 26.09.2020, Rajkumar attacked Srinivas, who was on his way to work, with an axe with the intention to kill him. Srinivas died on the spot.
Based on a complaint filed by the deceased’s wife Pudari Vasantha, the then Vemulawada CI Venkatesh registered a case, conducted a thorough investigation, arrested the accused and filed a chargesheet in court.
During the trial, under the supervision of CMS SI Shravan Yadav and with the coordination of Court Constable Mahender and CMS Constable Naveen, 18 witnesses were produced before the court. Former Public Prosecutor Srinivas and present Public Prosecutor Rajinikanth argued on behalf of the prosecution. After examining scientific evidence and witness statements, District Principal Judge Neeraja pronounced the life sentence.
District SP Mahesh B. Githe said that no criminal can escape punishment and that strict conviction will bring change in society. He appreciated the efforts of then CI Venkatesh, present CI Veeraprasad, Public Prosecutors Srinivas and Rajinikanth, CMS SI Shravan Yadav, Court Constable Mahender and CMS Constable Naveen for their effective investigation and coordination which led to the conviction.
