Fines imposed on 49 individuals caught for drunken driving

RSD-Vemulawada news: Town Inspector Veeraprasad announced that, acting on the orders of the District Superintendent of Police (SP), “drunk and drive” checks were conducted within the limits of the Vemulawada Town Police Station. During these checks, 49 individuals were apprehended for driving under the influence of alcohol. The Vemulawada police produced these individuals before the court on 18.03.2026, where Magistrate Jyothirmayi delivered a verdict imposing a fine of Rs.2,000 on 35 individuals and a fine of Rs.4,000 on the remaining 14 individuals. At the Vemulawada Town Police Station, counselling sessions were conducted for those caught in the drunken driving checks, under the supervision of Town Inspector Veeraprasad and Traffic Sub-Inspector (SI) Raju. During these sessions, the individuals were made to take a pledge promising never to drive under the influence of alcohol again. Speaking on this occasion, the Circle Inspector (CI) stated that “drunk and drive” checks and general vehicle inspections are being conducted daily within the jurisdiction of the Town Police Station. He further emphasized that strict action would be taken against any individuals caught driving a vehicle after consuming alcohol. He stated that individuals caught driving under the influence of alcohol would undergo counselling in the presence of their parents or family elders. He warned that being caught driving while intoxicated could lead to complications during police verification potentially hindering future job or employment opportunities and further cautioned that legal action would be taken against anyone violating traffic and road safety rules.
