If Kurumas Are Socially Backward, It Is Government’s Responsibility to Uplift Them… Dandu Vinod
RSD_Sircilla: Responding to Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy’s remarks in the Assembly that the Kuruma community has become socially disconnected and remains backward like nomadic tribes due to lack of education, Telangana Rajyadhikara Party Rajanna Sircilla District President Dandu Vinod has demanded special schemes and reservation.
Vinod stated that Kuruma fathers and forefathers always valued education, but due to lack of employment opportunities under previous upper-caste leadership, many stayed in traditional occupations and agriculture for economic survival, which led to distance from education.
Since the Chief Minister himself admitted in the Assembly, based on a government survey, that Kurumas are socially backward and used the term nomadic tribes, the government must now take responsibility to uplift the community through new welfare schemes and special reservation in education and employment, he demanded.
He also said Government Whip and Alair MLA Beerla Ilaiah, being a Kuruma himself, should hold discussions with the government on this issue.
Vinod warned that if no new scheme or special reservation is announced before the Chief Minister’s expected Sircilla tour at the end of this month, Kuruma youth of Rajanna Sircilla district will express their stand during the tour itself.
