Caught in the Dark… Husband Murders Wife With Knife in Sircilla

RSD Sircilla: In a chilling incident that has shocked Rajanna Sircilla district, a man allegedly murdered his estranged wife by lying in wait in the dark and attacking her with a knife.

The gruesome murder took place on Wednesday night on the outskirts of Padira village under yellareddypet mandal.

The victim has been identified as Gandikota Jyothi (28) of Padir Vaddera Colony. The accused is her husband, Pallapu Suresh, a driver from Chinna Deekonda village in Mustabad mandal.

According to police, Jyothi and Suresh were married 11 years ago and have three children – two sons and a daughter. For the past few years, Suresh had been harassing Jyothi suspecting her character, which led to constant family disputes. Panchayats were held several times, but his attitude did not change.

Fed up with the torture, Jyothi had been living with her children at her parents’ house in Padir for the last seven months.

Police said Suresh had been plotting to kill her. On Wednesday, when Jyothi and her mother Ellavva were returning from Karimnagar after a hospital visit, Suresh, who was already waiting in the darkness near the village entrance, pounced on them.

He stabbed Jyothi indiscriminately on her neck, stomach and hands, killing her on the spot. When her mother Ellavva and her son tried to stop him, he attacked them too, leaving them critically injured.

After confirming Jyothi’s death, Suresh left the knife at the spot and fled in a car. He later surrendered at the Sircilla police station.

The injured were shifted to Sircilla Government Hospital, where their condition is said to be critical. DSP Nagendra Chary and CI Odela Venkatesh inspected the crime scene and sent the body for post-mortem.

A case has been registered and investigation is underway.
