Strict action on those who drink alcohol in public places, District SP Mahesh B. Gite

RSD-Sircilla news: Cases have been registered against 3740 people who consumed alcohol in public places in the 2024 year. Drunk and drive checks are conducted to prevent road accidents, and fines and jail sentences are mandatory for those who drink alcohol. He said that strict action will be taken against acts like drinking alcohol in public places and driving after drinking alcohol in the district, and extensive checks will be conducted to maintain public peace and prevent road accidents. On this occasion, the SP said that surveillance has been maintained on places where alcohol is consumed in public places in all police stations in the district. As part of this, cases have been registered against 3740 people in the 2024 year. He said that information is being collected on places where alcohol is consumed in public places and action will be taken accordingly. He said that especially at night, areas with poor lighting are being identified and patrolling is being carried out more efficiently. He said that in addition to regularly identifying those who drink alcohol in public places, Petro Cars and Blue Colt police personnel will be tightening surveillance in areas where alcohol is consumed in public places. He said that daily vehicle inspections and drunk and drive inspections are being conducted in the district to prevent road accidents. In the last seven months, 10980 people have been caught driving after drinking alcohol across the district, fines have been imposed on them, and 260 people have been sentenced to imprisonment. He advised that strict action will be taken against those who drive after drinking alcohol and cause accidents. He said that the driving licenses of people caught drinking and driving will be taken and recommendations will be made to the relevant transport department officials for cancellation of their licenses. He said that in addition to creating awareness about traffic rules in the district, counselling is being conducted for those caught drinking alcohol and creating awareness among the people.
