Two Arrested in Sircilla for Extorting Money in Police Name
RSD_Rajanna Sircilla: Two persons were arrested by Thangallapalli police for extorting money from a complainant by misusing the name of the police.
According to DSP Sircilla, Nagendra Chari, on the night of 26.08.2026, Rangu Bharat Kumar, S/o Ramulu, resident of Padmanagar, Thangallapalli mandal and his friend Rangu Tilak had an altercation with some persons in Sarampally village. A case was registered in this regard at Thangallapalli Police Station.
Taking advantage of the case, Bendram Pawan of Padmanagar and Asani Srikanth Reddy of Thangallapalli approached the complainant Ramulu and demanded Rs. 50,000, stating they would give it to the police and get station bail for his son, otherwise he would be sent to jail.
On 31.08.2026 evening, they again threatened Ramulu at his house and collected Rs. 20,000 from him and Rs. 10,000 from Rangu Tilak.
Acting on the complaint of Ramulu, police registered a case and arrested both accused on Monday.
DSP Nagendra Chari stated that demanding money in the name of police, collecting money and giving false assurances is a crime. He advised the public not to believe such persons and to immediately inform Dial 112 or the nearest police station if anyone demands money in the name of police.
