Kothapalli-Manoharabad Line: Trial Run Completed up to Baswapur Station on Sircilla Border

RAJANNA SIRCILLA, August 30, 2026: In a historic first, Rajanna Sircilla district heard the whistle of a train.

The Indian Railways successfully completed the trial run of the much-awaited 151.4 km Kothapalli-Manoharabad new railway line up to Baswapur Railway Station in Thangallapally mandal, which lies on the Sircilla district border.

Railway officials conducted the trial by running an engine from the Siddipet side to Baswapur to check track fitness and signalling systems. As soon as the engine reached Baswapur, local residents, farmers and youth celebrated by bursting crackers and distributing sweets.

The Kothapalli-Manoharabad project was approved in 2016 at a cost of Rs 1,160 crore. The Manoharabad to Siddipet section is already operational. The stretch from Siddipet to Sircilla is now progressing rapidly with station works at Baswapur and Gopalraopally underway.

According to officials, the target is to start regular train services up to Sircilla town by December 2026. The key challenge ahead is the 2.4 km long bridge over the Mid Manair reservoir backwaters.

Once completed, this line will serve as an alternative route and is expected to catalyse major development in Medak, Siddipet, Rajanna Sircilla and Karimnagar districts. It will especially boost Sircilla’s handloom and textile industry and help lakhs of devotees visiting the Vemulawada temple.

Railway officials said works to extend the trial run to Sircilla outskirts will be completed soon.
