Department of English & IQAC – Awareness Seminar on World Suicide Prevention Day
RSD_Gambhiroapeta: At the Government Degree and P.G. College, Gambhiraopet Mandal Headquarters, an awareness seminar on World Suicide Prevention Day was held today under the chairmanship of Principal Prof. V. Vijayalakshmi. The program was organized by the Department of English and the Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) Coordinator Dr. Y. Anjaneyulu, Assistant Professor of English and Psychologist who is a president of TPA Rajanna Sircilla District. In collaboration with the Telangana Psychologists Association (TPA) – Rajanna Sircilla and the voluntary organization Helping Hearts, under the leadership of prominent psychologist and TPA State Vice President K. Punnam Chander.
Addressing the seminar, Mr. K. Punnam Chander explained the root causes of suicide in society, the possibilities of prevention, patterns of thinking, and the importance of making the right decisions during student life for a bright future. He also highlighted behavioral changes in children, concentration on studies, relationships with parents, siblings, and teachers, dissatisfaction with exam results, and other related issues. Using various practical examples, he created awareness among the students.
Speaking on the occasion, the Principal emphasized the influence of changes within the family, the behavior of people around us, and the importance of practicing good conduct with fellow students.
The program was attended by TPA Rajanna Sircilla Vice President and psychologist A. Eshwar, Vice Principal Dr. Prabhakar, P. Dharmapuri, Dr. Shravan Kumar, Dr. Aadi Vishnu, Dr. K. V. Bikshamayya, Srinivas Manohar, Sucharan, Krishna Prasad, Mahesh, Jagannatham, Shailaja, Deepika, Bhargavi, Ramya, Ravinder, along with several teaching, non-teaching staff, and students.
