Release Special Funds to Sircilla, Start Pending Rs 40 Cr Works Before CM Tour… Municipal Chairperson
RSD_Sircilla: Ahead of Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy’s visit to Rajanna Sircilla on September 30, Municipal Chairperson Jindam Kala Chakrapani held a press conference at the municipal office demanding that all pending development works be resumed and special funds be released for Sircilla town.
She said it is unfortunate that even after three years of Congress government in the state, no special funds have been allocated to Sircilla, the district headquarters.
Recalling previous allocations, she said in 2023 the then BRS government had sanctioned Rs. 40 crore under TUFIDC for internal CC roads, drains and other infrastructure in various wards through the efforts of then Minister K.T. Rama Rao and former CM K. Chandrashekar Rao. Though tenders were called, works were stopped after Congress came to power.
Similarly, Rs. 6.97 crore was sanctioned for link roads to the first bypass road. 40% of work was completed, but the remaining work was halted without orders. Another Rs. 15 crore was sanctioned for a permanent floodwater drain from Kochcheruvu to Srinagar Colony to save inundated areas, but the tender process has not started till date, she alleged.
The Chairperson said all municipal councilors had met Government Whip Adi Srinivas soon after Congress formed the government and requested him to get pending works approved and funds released, but there was no response.
She alleged step-motherly treatment towards Sircilla because BRS working president KTR is the MLA from Sircilla, while special funds are being given to neighbouring Vemulawada municipality. Politics should be limited to elections and the government should focus on welfare and development, she said.
She demanded that the government pay special attention to pending municipal works, start them before the CM’s visit, and allocate more special funds considering Sircilla’s population and needs.
Vice Chairman Darla Sandeep demanded release of special funds, pending funds, and removal of BY Nagar and Sundaraiah Nagar pattas from the 22/A prohibited list.
BJP Floor Leader Erra Venkata Rajam demanded distribution of double bedroom houses sanctioned by the previous government to eligible beneficiaries. Councilors Burra Narayana Goud, Darnam Aruna Lakshminarayana and others demanded community halls for all communities and implementation of guarantees given to women.
Municipal Whip Burra Mallikarjun, councilors and co-option members participated in the press meet.
