Thousands of chickens died due to bird flu infection at a poultry farm in Singaram, Rangareddy district. Officials who examined the chickens sent their samples to the National Institute of High Security Animal Diseases (NIHSAD) in Bhopal. Scientists confirmed that the chickens were infected with the H5N1 virus. With this, about 10,000 chickens in the poultry farm were killed and buried with the help of JCB. Along with the seizure of the farm, a ban was imposed on the sale of chickens and eggs in the Abdullapurmet area. Bird flu is mainly spread between chickens and birds. The disease is spread through the feces, saliva and mucus of infected chickens and birds. People working in the poultry industry in virus-affected areas are more likely to get infected. People who are close to birds like chickens, ducks and pigeons are at high risk. However, experts say that the virus does not survive long in hot, dry weather. It can survive for a long time in cold, wet weather. The main symptoms seen in people infected with bird flu are high fever, sore throat, respiratory problems, eye infections, vomiting, and diarrhea. The effect is more severe than the symptoms of the common flu. Officials have warned that touching dead chickens infected with bird flu and eating raw chicken meat is dangerous. If suspicious symptoms appear, it is advised to contact doctors immediately. They say that the bird flu virus can only be killed if chicken is cooked at a temperature of at least 70 degrees Celsius. They advise avoiding eating outside food as much as possible.
