RSD_Hyderabad: High drama unfolded at the main gate of the Telangana Assembly on the opening day of the Monsoon Sessions.

BRS Working President K.T. Rama Rao, former Minister T. Harish Rao and several party MLAs and MLCs, who arrived wearing black T-shirts to question the Congress government over its alleged failures to implement poll promises, were stopped and arrested by police at the Assembly main gate.

Key Highlights of the Incident:

Protest in Black T-shirts: BRS leaders paid tributes at Gun Park and marched towards the Assembly wearing black T-shirts and carrying placards demanding implementation of Congress’s guarantees.
Police Objection: Citing security reasons, police at the main gate denied entry to those wearing black T-shirts. BRS leaders countered by asking why there was no objection when Rahul Gandhi wore a similar black T-shirt to Parliament.
Scuffle and Injuries: A scuffle broke out when police stopped them. In the melee, KTR is said to have sustained minor injuries to his hand and forehead. Former Minister Jagadish Reddy reportedly fell down and injured his leg.
Harish Rao’s Unique Protest: Angered by the denial of entry, Harish Rao took off his T-shirt at the spot and protested in his vest.
Women Leaders Distressed: During the push and pull, BRS MLA Sunitha Lakshma Reddy alleged that police pulled her saree, leaving her in tears. She was consoled by Sabitha Indra Reddy.
Shifted to Telangana Bhavan: Amid high tension, police forcibly put KTR, Harish Rao and other BRS legislators into police vehicles and shifted them to Telangana Bhavan.
Traffic Jam: The protest at the Assembly gate led to heavy traffic jams in surrounding areas for over 30 minutes.

BRS cadres have condemned the police action, alleging that the government is trampling on the democratic rights of the opposition.
