Alcohol addiction should be given up, Dr.Praveen Kumar

RSD-Sircilla news: On 14.07.2025, a counseling program by renowned psychologist K. Punnamchander was organized in Ganesh Nagar for power loom workers to get rid of alcohol addiction under the Mind Care and Counseling Center, Government General Hospital, and the District Medical Health Department. Dr. B. Praveen Kumar, Psychiatrist of the Medical Health Department, was the chief guest for this program on Workers’ Mental Development Conference and spoke to the workers. On this occasion, he said that alcohol addiction should be given up. He explained to the workers about the physical, mental and family harms due to alcohol addiction. He said that liver problems, heart diseases, and effects on the brain can cause memory loss, depression, anxiety, and sleep deprivation. Digestive problems can lead to esophageal, liver, and pancreatic problems, which can lead to cancer. He said that mental and ideological problems include depression, suicide attempts, anxiety, increased anger, and decreased decision-making ability. Psychologist K. Punnamchander speaking about family and social problems, he said that family disputes, divorce, negative impact on children, and decreased performance can occur. He said that financial damage and abnormal behavior can occur. Explaining the benefits of quitting alcohol to the workers, he said that liver and heart health will improve and blood pressure will be under control. Similarly, he said that sleep quality will improve and immunity will increase. He said that negative thoughts and anger will decrease and self-confidence will increase.
He urged people to take advantage of the Mind Care and Counseling Center, Government General Hospital, which provides advanced medical treatment and counseling for people to get rid of alcohol addiction. Renowned psychologist K.
