RSD_ Break for new ration cards, EC clarity on news

RSD- Telangana news: It is known that beneficiaries have been waiting for new ration cards for the last ten years. In this context, the government has provided an opportunity to apply. Meanwhile, the news that the EC has recently put a break on new ration cards in Telangana has been clarified by Election Commission, that no orders have been given in such way. The news that the Election Commission has ordered them to be stopped immediately in view of the MLA election code is false. It has clarified that there is no truth in the news coming in the media. People have been waiting for new ration cards for a long time. With this, the government in its memo on 07.02.2025 ordered all Meeseva centers across the state to start services for receiving new food security or ration card applications. The Civil Supplies Department announced that those who did not apply in the Gram Sabhas on the 26th of January 2025 should also apply at Meeseva centers. It has issued orders providing flexibility for changes and additions to the existing ration cards. In this order, many beneficiaries went to Meseva service centers to apply for new ration cards but they were left disappointed. People were a bit worried when they showed that the service to go to Meseva service center was not available. Even Meseva service managers do not know why. Meanwhile, currently there are 89.96 lakh ration cards in Telangana covering 281.70 lakh units. Out of these, 35.51 lakh are state issued cards and the remaining 54.45 lakh are National Food Security Act (NFSA) cards. Eligibility for food security cards depends on income, land ownership and some other factors.
