District police department is taking strong measures to prevent drugs and ganja
RSD- Sircilla news: In this regard, District SP Akhil Mahajan IPS issued a statement on 18.12.2023 that ,according to the directives of the Chief Minister of the State, two teams have been formed under the task force in the district to ensure that the youth, who decide the future of the country, are not affected by ganja and drugs. He said that the source of supply and key persons will be identified and cases will be registered against them and the illegal traffic will be controlled in an armed manner, if they repeatedly commit illegal ganja and drug traffic, history sheets and PD Act will be registered against them.
Police officers have been instructed to keep a watch on youths in abandoned buildings as people are more likely to consume ganja there, and to keep a watch on their movements as ganja users are setting up special WhatsApp groups, collect data of ganja users in the district and keep a watch on them. He asked them to monitor their movements from time to time. He directed the officials to create a special activity for the prevention of ganja and make the district a ganja-free district.
The SP said that if people receive information that they are selling or transporting marijuana or any other narcotic substances, they should call 100 or the police in their area or message to their SP phone number 630-392-2572, and the names of those who have given the information will be kept confidential.
Measures to prevent drugs in district
- A special activity in the district to prevent the youth and people from falling victim to drugs.
- Stronger surveillance of cannabis traffic, sources of sale, key persons.
- Establishment of de-addiction center to guide drug addicts on the right path.
- In the year 2023, a total of 58 cases related to ganja were registered in the district, in which 127 people were arrested, 70.674 KGs of ganja were seized and 105 people were jailed.

- SP said that with the aim of eradicating drugs in the district, special activities will be organized in each police station of the district and awareness programs will be conducted on the harm caused by marijuana and drugs.
