New strain of corona virus NeoCoV is harmful?

As per the scientists, a new strain of corona virus has emerged which is having the capability of both MERS-CoV  fatality and SARS-CoV-2 fast spreading nature too. It is also reported that, the mortality rate is one in three infected persons by this new strain. The current vaccines are not able to protect against this strain as per a publication in bioRxiv website.

Originally this strain was also from bats of South Africa and has the capacity of infecting humans by undergoing possible mutations like omicron. The mutations in the RBD region of SARS-CoV-2 lead to omicron generation and NeoCoV uses antigenic drift mechanism to survive. Even by using antibody therapy of SARS-CoV-2 or MERS-CoV this strain cannot be neutralized.

This NeoCoV is also using the ACE2 point as their entry and is been mutated as per the entry point for its survival in human so it is very potential in infecting humans. And its pathogenecity is unpredictable unless infection is detected in humans.

So, better be safe than to suffer.
