Police arrest people who cheated in the name of hidden funds

RSD- Konraopet news: Chandurthi Circle Inspector G. Venkateswarlu revealed these details. About two months ago, in the second week of September 2025, a person named Mekala Naresh from Peddur village came to the house of Duggu Venu from Nizamabad village in Konaraopet mandal in the guise of Swamiji. Knowing that he did not have children, Naresh convinced him that someone had cast spells in the house and that was why he was not having children. He said that he would make amulets and took the first installment of Rs. 3,000. When Venu’s family gave him money, Naresh hatched a plan to steal more and convinced him that there was a gold treasure hidden in their house and that he had the power to retrieve it. He called his friend Baba and said that he would perform pujas, and first took Rs. 50,000 from Venu. Then Naresh, along with Kadavancha Prasad of Peddur and Sadula Devender of Chandrampet, Siricilla, came to Venu’s house at night. They pretended to have performed pujas at home, made it look like they had dug a hole for the treasure, put a small idol in it, made it slightly visible, and immediately closed it. Then, they threatened, “The treasure in your house is tied to a snake. If we dig like this, our lives will be lost.” To remove the snake, they called Aghora and performed a kshudra puja, and for this, they asked for some more money. They threatened Venu’s family that it would cost Rs 3,40,000, otherwise the snake would be released and all the people in the house would suffer misfortune and their lives would be lost. Venu, who was frightened, agreed to pay them the amount. After giving the money for four days, the three accused brought another person named Sadula Rajesham from Chandrampet in the guise of an Aghora. While they were digging a hole, pretending to perform a puja, they threw a fangless snake they had brought with them into the hole. Sadula made them believe that the snake had bitten Devender, and Devender pretended to be vomiting blood. They threatened to take him to the hospital urgently. If he lost his life, your house would be in danger and a case would be filed against you. When Venu, who was frightened, asked to be taken to the hospital immediately, they said that they did not have the money and added some more money. They threatened and Rs. 15,000 and collected it. They took a total of Rs. 4,08,000 and pretended to take Devender to the hospital and fled from there. After that, when Naresh could not be found despite all his efforts, the victim, Duggu Venu, who realized that he had been cheated, filed a complaint at Konaraopet Police Station on 25.11.2025. As part of the investigation, the accused Mekala Naresh, Kadavancha Prasad and Sadula Devender came to roam the village again at the wood purchasing center on the outskirts of Nizamabad village. Based on prior information, S.I. Prashanth Reddy station staff and CCS team along with them arrested the three. Rs. 3 lakhs were seized from them. S.I. who solved this case, CI Venkateshwarlu congratulated the Prashanth Reddy station staff and the CCS team. On this occasion, he made an appeal to the people. “If any person comes in the guise of a Swamiji and tries to convince you that there is treasure in your house, or using other weaknesses as a support, no one should believe them,” he urged. If there is information that any such person is roaming in the village, CI Venkateshwarlu asked the police to be informed immediately.
