SP said that “Don’t be fooled by the messages and advertisements that promise high profits on social media, let’s be aware of cyber frauds and protect our valuable hard work by rising awareness on cyber criminals. Various cyber crimes are being reported in the district through press releases. Cyber criminals are committing cyber crimes based on two factors namely hope and fear. People should be aware that cyber criminals are deceiving people in the name of fake lotteries, fake job advertisements, fake bank account information and fake gift boxes, loan app etc., Information should never be shared on social media as cybercriminals wait for such opportunities, so be careful while using phones. A call to 1930 immediately after any cybercrime incident can help you recover your lost money.

Some of the cyber crimes that have taken place in Rajannasircilla district during this week

●The victim received a message via WhatsApp from an unknown person in Tangallapally police station area which contained a link. He invested around Rs.3,00,000/-, believing that if he invests the amount through that link, he will get more commission. But he did not get any commission and finally found out that he was cheated.

●A link was received through telegram to a person under Vemulawada Town Police Station. The victim invested Rs 3,10,000-/ believing that if he opens the link and completes the task and invests the amount, he will get a large amount of money. But finally he did not get any amount and the victim lost three lakhs.

●ICICI Credit Card Company sent an application to the victim in Sircilla Town Police Station saying that it was for KYC. After opening it, the victim shared his credit card numbers and OTP through which the victim lost Rs 1,90,000/-.

●Vemulawada town police station area victim got a link in Telegram and through that link he was asked that if you invest an amount in Bitcoin, you will get a large amount of money back while chatting with an unknown person. He believed the words of that person and invested Rs.1,00,000-/. But there was no response from the suspect due to which the victim lost money.

An unknown person opened a share chat account using the mobile number of the victim in Sircilla Town Police Station area and pretended to send a message to a girl on behalf of that girl threatening to file a harassment case against the victim and extorting Rs.36,000/- from the victim.

Precautions to be taken:-

• Have you received a call or a message saying that you have got a lottery or loan? Do not hope.  Immediately call 1930 and complain.

• Don’t believe WhatsApp and Telegram ads that say investment in thousands and profits in lakhs.

• If you deposit less money, you will get profit and if you deposit more money, you will be cheated. Call 1930 immediately if you fall victim to such cyber fraud.

• Realize that they are cyber fraudsters who message you and ask you for a job.
