Six more heifer die in Vemulawada Rajanna Goshala

RSD- Vemulawada news: Unlike anywhere else in the country, the Vemulawada Rajanna temple has a tradition of paying obeisances to Shiva’s vehicle Nandi like a god. Currently, due to the negligence of the Vemulawada Rajanna temple authorities, the heifer, which is the vehicle of Shiva, is dying with a death cry. While the real heifers offered to Rajanna by devotees were being transported to the cowshed in Tippapur, they are currently beyond the limit and lack of supervision has become a curse for them. On 30.05.2025, 8 heifers died in the cowshed and were buried without proper burial. While dozens of heifers in the Swami’s cowshed die every day, the temple authorities are secretly burying them without proper burial, hurting the sentiments of the devotees. The cowshed in the Vemulawada Rajanna temple, known as Dakshan Kashi, is considered very sacred by the devotees. Every year, the Swami earns more than Rs. 22 crores from this cowshed. However, the temple authorities have stopped the distribution of the real heifers offered by the devotees to the farmers due to various irregularities. There was a system in place to hand over the real heifers to the farmers after examining the passbook of each farmer and taking an affidavit stating that they will take care of them personally, and then handing them over to someone in large quantities, which led to a controversy. However, the real heifers offered by devotees to the Lord are currently being kept in the Tippapur Goshala. While there are only about 600 heifers within its limits, devotees are alleging that more than 1250 heifers are dying due to lack of proper accommodation facilities in the Rajanna Goshala. They are expressing their concern that the Rajanna temple authorities are neglecting the care of the heifers, which have an income of hundreds of crores. Responding to this, the Collector sent a veterinary team and provided treatment to the remaining heifers.
