RSD-Hyderabad news: The term of 120 municipalities and 9 corporations in Telangana has ended. From 27.01.2025, the respective municipalities and corporations have come under the rule of special officers. With the end of the term on 26.01.2025 the special rule began from midnight.Municipal elections were held in Telangana on January 22, 2020. On the 27th of January 2025, new governing bodies were formed in the respective municipalities and corporations.With the completion of five years by 26.01.2025 the State Municipal and Urban Development Department’s Principal Secretary Dana Kishore issued official orders appointing special officers.While the term of the Karimnagar Corporation governing body is about to end on the 28th of January 2025 an order was issued on 26.01.2025 appointing a special officer for this too.The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) elections were held in February 2021. The new governing body was sworn in in the same month. Along with GHMC, elections were also held for Warangal, Khammam corporations and some other municipalities in 2021.With this, the term of the respective municipalities and corporations is just over a year away. The Revanth Sarkar plans to develop Hyderabad city up to the Outer Ring Road. As part of the development plans.A decision has been taken in principle to merge 20 municipalities and 7 corporations on the outskirts of the city into the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation. Already, 51 gram panchayats under these have been merged into the respective municipalities and corporations.
