Untimely rains government negligence, farmers anger

Untimely rains at the time of harvest have overwhelmed the farmers. Farmers who thought that they would get investment from the remaining crop are facing disappointment from the government. There are criticisms that the government’s negligence in grain procurement is increasing the hardships and losses of the farmers. Farmers are expressing their anger that they are neglecting to purchase grain even though it has been 10 days since they brought the grain to the purchase center.

One time the grain is wet, another time the grain is not dry, another time there is a rope, and they are expressing their anger that they are making excuses and making postponements. On the other hand, elections also increased the loss of farmers. Farmers are alleging that the procurement is getting delayed as all the officials are engaged in polling. There are allegations that the government is neglecting the purchase of grain and the same type of neglect is being paid to the farmers. It is known that about 26 lakh tonnes of grain has been purchased so far. In this regard, the farmers will get about Rs. 5700 crore to be paid while it is known that up to Rs.3700 crores have been paid. That means farmers still get Rs. 2 thousand crores to be paid. Farmers are angry that the government, which has already given Rythubandhu investment assistance late, is now giving the money for the sale of grain too late. They are angry that they are not getting money even ten days a week after selling grain.
