We Must Live and Achieve”… Psychologist Punnanchandar’s Call on World Suicide Prevention Day

“RSD_Sircilla: On the occasion of World Suicide Prevention Day, a group counselling program was organized for workers at Nehru Nagar under the leadership of eminent psychologist K. Punnanchandar.
Speaking on the occasion, psychologist Punnanchandar advised everyone to lead a healthy and stress free life. He suggested that when faced with problems, one should not bear them alone, but share their thoughts and feelings with family members, friends, or experts.
He said the World Health Organization has called for extensive discussion on changing the mindset towards suicide with the message “Changing the Narrative on Suicide” to create global awareness on suicide prevention.
He stated that by talking wholeheartedly with people in distress, listening to their pain, understanding them, and providing appropriate counselling and psychological help when needed, there is a chance to save lives.
“Patiently listening and understanding a person’s pain without judgment is also an important step in suicide prevention,” Punnanchandar noted. He advised the workers to move forward with the confidence of “Jeevinchi Sadhinchali – We must live and achieve”, stating that suicide is not a solution no matter how many problems arise in life, and that every problem will find a solution in some way or the other.
Social worker Vemula Markandeyulu said that without neglecting any mental or family problems, people should contact the Mind Care and Counseling Center and get the necessary help. He appreciated the efforts being made by the Mind Care and Counseling Center for suicide prevention.
