IAS officer got cheated in new online scam and lost Rs. 5 lakhs

RSD- Lucknow news: Cases of online fraud are increasing in the country. Fraudsters are adopting new methods to loot money. For example, even an IAS officer being cheated has become a sensation. Retired IAS officer Ram Kunwar, a resident of Prag Narayan Road, Lucknow, lost Rs 5 lakh after being cheated online. Not only that, this time the fraudsters who adopted a new method that no one expected, hacked the account of an IAS officer. This cheating case was done in movie style. The fraudsters first contacted the IAS officer through a message and then hacked his account. On October 3rd 2023, Ram Mobile received a message that Rs 29.78 crore was credited. When this matter was brought to the notice of the bank officials, it was learned that this was not a message from the bank so Ram informed the zonal manager of the bank to inquire about it. But, a junior officer of the bank said that they will investigate this. In this sequence Ram received a call from an unknown mobile number. The man, who introduced himself as Avinash, a senior bank official, said that the money had been mistakenly credited to Ram’s account. Also told to download AnyDesk app to settle this case. As they said Ram shared all the secret information of his Central Bank and Union Bank accounts without his knowledge.

Shortly after the incident, Rs.4.65 lakh was withdrawn from Ram’s Central Bank account. Immediately received a message that the money has been debited. Also, another message came that Rs. 50 thousand was debited from the Union Bank account. Still, Ram didn’t understand. Ram realized later that the message he got was also fake and realized that he was cheated. Alarmed by this incident, Ram immediately approached the police. The police have registered an FIR and are investigating the incident.
