No night duties for teachers instead reduce mental stress on children

RSD_ TSUTF, concentrate on student’s mental stress

RSD-District news: Alarmed by the series of student suicides in Gurukula Vidya Sansthas, the Secretary of the Social Welfare Gurukula Vidya Sanstha Society has given orders to increase the number of night duty teachers from two to four. The Telangana State United Teachers Federation (TS UTF) strongly condemns the order stating that the teachers should take turns to stand guard at night. Delegating gurukula teachers to the level of night watchmen is deeply objectionable. Increased mental pressure on students is the cause of suicide. It does not make sense to issue strange orders without considering that point. In the name of best results in Inter and Class X, students are being pressured like corporate educational institutions and are being deprived of mental peace. That is why suicides which were limited to corporate educational institutions have spread to gurukula educational institutions. TSUTF Rajannasircilla district president Pakala Shankar Goud demanded that a study committee comprising psychologists be appointed to study the causes and take scientific measures for prevention.

Most Gurukula schools are run in rented buildings and fail to provide minimum facilities to the students. Even after two years of saying that the mess charges will be increased, the GO has not been given. Watermelons, cold buttermilk and cold water were ordered to be available to the students to withstand the sun. But the authorities should tell how it is possible without giving additional budget. Teachers are already overburdened with non-teaching tasks. Now increasing the number of teachers on night duty will increase the pressure on them. So don’t turn teachers into night watchmen. TSUTF Rajannasircilla District General Secretary Mahender Rao, Vice President Ramesh and Treasurer Ravinder demanded the government to reduce the mental pressure on the students and encourage them to study in a pleasant environment.
