People should be vigilant against cyber crimes: SP Akhil Mahajan IPS
SP said that Cyber criminals are committing cyber crimes based on two factors namely hope and fear. A cyber crime is committed by taking personal information from a person to get more money in a short period of time and fearing that the bank account, PAN card or other accounts of a person will be blocked and cyber crime is done by taking personal information from them. In today’s society due to the increase in the use of internet, every person uses phones for some need and in addition, cyber criminals steal our personal information and easily steal money from our banks, wallets, etc. Therefore, we should never share our personal information on social media because cyber criminals wait for such opportunities while using phones. Be careful. A call to 1930 immediately after any cybercrime incident can help you recover your lost money.
Details of some cyber cases registered in Rajanna Sircilla district.
The victim received a phone call from an unknown number in Sircilla Town Police Station and said that they will install 4G and 5G cell towers in your land. For that, they will give you 25 lakhs as an advance, pay a monthly rent of Rs.25,000/- and pay Rs.22,000/- for registration. He pays the amount and gets cheated.
● Under Konraopet Police Station, the victim clicked on an unknown link for a part-time job through Telegram and joined the Telegram group. By putting a link in the group, investing a small amount in it and giving a rating to the website, the victim was told that money would be credited. Victim has invested Rs 7,46,000/- in instalments and gets cheated.
● In Sircilla town area, the victim contacted an ad related to Nataraj pencil on Facebook. Rs. 22,000/- were taken from the victim by saying work from home and material, ID card and processing free.
●Victim searched and contacted Fast Tag customer care number in Vemulawada town. He lost Rs 7,500/- due to sharing bank details.
Precautions to be taken:-
• Have you received a call or a message saying that you have got a lottery or loan? Don’t delay immediately call 1930 and complain.
• Do not pick up video calls from strangers, if you do, they will be naked, record your video call, threaten you and extort money.
• Don’t believe WhatsApp and Telegram ads that say investment in thousands and profits in lakhs.
• If you deposit less money, you will get profit and if you deposit more money, you will be cheated. Call 1930 immediately if you fall victim to such cyber fraud.
• Realize that they are cyber fraudsters who message you and ask you for a job.
