After the construction for the second time, the leakages are repeated and there is no running water.
In Rajannasircilla district, the government has given permission for the construction of 11 check dams on the Maneru river from Upper Maneru to Middle Maneru and 13 check dams on the main river at a cost of 155. crores. It is being said that the work of the officials is going on fast. Of the total 24 check dams, three have been completed, 9 check dams have been completed and the rest are more than 80% complete. According to the reports given by the officials, they reported to the government for 12 more with 68 crores 47 lakhs. It is known that the local people from the areas where the construction is going on are alleging that the quality of the work, which looks so good as far as the calculations are concerned, is gone. It is known that the check dam built in Sircilla municipal area has already caused many poisonings. It is known that many people lost their lives due to the dam that was washed away within a few days of construction. It is noteworthy that the construction work of this check dam has not yet been completed. Just when this check dam was washed away, everyone remembers that the check dam being constructed on the Maneru river in Sardapur suburb of Kasb Katkur in Tangallapally mandal and Sircilla municipal area collapsed.
In the case of the check dams being built on Sircilla Maneru Vagu, there are criticisms that the constructions are not being carried out in accordance with the prescribed norms and the quality standards are not being followed. There are times when the opposition parties take to the streets and protest that the leaders of the ruling party are the contractors and the authorities are leaving them unattended. As alleged, it is seen that the small floods of the check dams are getting perforated. Locals are alleging that the attitude of the authorities in the case of Kasbe Katkur check dam has wasted crores of public money. Even though the first time it was not paid attention to, even if it is being constructed again for the second time, the authorities have to carefully inspect it , but it is not seen where the inspection was done. Non-compliance with quality standards is still evident from a check dam. It seems that empty cement bags were filled with sand and used in the middle of constructions where cement aggregate was to be mixed. In the month of November, the leakages brought new problem to the Maneru river dam, and the water that should have been standing is going away due to the leakages of the check dam. Many farmers say that if the authorities had responded at least at the right time, it would have been better. The authorities themselves have to answer the questions that few crores of people’s funds have gone into drain.
