Say NO to drugs and pave the way for a golden future
RSD- Sircilla news: Huge response to the 5K run organized by the District Police Department on drug eradication. Young, old, young women, youths, journalists, public representatives enthusiastically participated. District Collector Anurag Jayanthi and District SP Akhil Mahajan presented bicycles to the 15 winners as chief guests. 5k run through Ambedkar Chowk, Netanna Chowk, New Pond, Chandrampet and back to Ambedkar Chowk in Sircilla town.
On this occasion, the District Collector said that the future of the country is decided by the youth, and such youth are addicted to drugs and intoxicants like ganja and are pushing their future. He said that everyone should make a concerted effort to completely eradicate drugs from the society, which are standing as a hindrance to future life. He said that it is commendable to organize a 5K Run for Drug Awareness under the District Police Department in order to motivate the youth to prevent them from being affected by drugs in Sircilla district. The youth, especially, should stay away from drugs and pave the way for a golden future.
District SP said that, recognizing that it is everyone’s responsibility to control marijuana and other intoxicating substances that stand in the way of the progress of the youth, everyone should take responsibility and participate in the eradication of drugs and marijuana. It is advised to eliminate intoxicants early and save the youth from the epidemic of intoxication. He called on the police to provide them with information related to cannabis and drugs in the district.
He said that anti-drug clubs will be formed in the colleges and schools of the district to create awareness among students to eliminate the use of ganja and drugs in the districts. Similarly, a de-addiction center will be set up in the district to guide those who are addicted to drugs and ganja to guide them to the right path and treatment will be provided by psychiatrists.
District SP said that there has been an unexpected response to the drug eradication awareness 5k run organized under the district police department and soon marathon competitions will be organized in the districts.
The District SP congratulated the police officers and staff who worked hard for the organization of this 5k run since February 2024.
The District Collector, SP said that the role of media representatives is very important as a bridge between the government and the people, and awareness should be created through print, electronic media and social media about the dangers of youth being exposed to ganja, drugs and other intoxicants.
