RSD – District news: Cyber criminals commit cyber crimes based on two factors: hope and fear. We should never share our personal information on social media because cyber criminals wait for such opportunities, so we should be careful while using phones.

As soon as any cyber crime occurs, the victims should call the cyber crime toll free number 1930/www.cybercrime.gov.in and give the information. Therefore, awareness programs are being conducted in the villages/towns under the police station, in educational institutions and also in the district to make people aware about the toll free number. He said that what kind of cyber crimes are being committed every day, so that such crimes do not recur, people are informed and alerted through newspaper announcements.

Details of some cyber cases that took place during this week in Rajannasircilla district.

1) The victim received a phone call from cyber criminals in Illanthakunta police station. It was believed that there was an insurance coverage in the name of the dead victim’s father and he could make a claim. The victim was asked to send a request on phone pay and accept it. By accepting and entering the UPI PIN, the victim lost Rs 29,000/-.

2. In Vemulawada Town Police Station, the victim saw a part-time job ad on Telegram and contacted the cyber criminal. At first, the victim invested a small amount and completed the task and got a double amount. Believing this to be true, the victim invested a large sum of money but no amount came back. Thus he was cheated of 2,57,000 rupees.

3. In Ellareddypet police station area, the victim searched hdfc credit card customer care number on google and called but the call was not connected. Later the cyber fraudster called the victim and asked him to share the OTP after taking the credit card limit and expiry date and the victim shared the OTP. RS. 1,76,000/- was later debited from the HDFC credit card of the victim.
