Visible policing should be implemented to instill trust and confidence in the public

RSD- District SP held a semi-annual crime review meeting with the district police officers on 20.07.2023 in the district police work.

As part of that, during the last six months, on the working pattern of police stations, disposal of UI cases, pending and settlement of long pending UI cases, SC/ST, women against cases, POCSO cases, conventions, functional verticals, village wise CC monitoring through VILLAGE CCTV PROJECT. The district SP conducted a review with the police officials on the installation of cameras, the illegal transportation of ganja, PDS rice, counterfeit seeds, the performance of SHE teams, the progress of cyber crime cases, traffic enforcement, and the actions taken in the cases.

SP said on this occasion that visible policing should be implemented to instill confidence and security in the people, and justice should be done according to the law by responding promptly to every complaint that comes to the police station. Initiatives should be taken to resolve the pending cases and efforts should be made to reduce the number of them. They want to take steps to increase the percentage of punishment in court cases. In SC/ST, cases against women and in POCSO cases, the concerned authorities have been ordered to speed up the investigation.
He said that illegal activities such as ganja gudumba, poker, PDS rice, fake seeds and illegal transport of sand should be kept under special vigilance and raids should be conducted and special activities should be designed to prevent them. In the last six months, 21 cases have been registered in the district against illegal ganja and those who are transporting government ration rice illegally. He said that 23 cases have been registered, one case has been registered against those who smuggle fake seeds and 267 cases have been registered against those who smuggle illegal sand in the district.

The SP of the district said that special attention has been paid to the criminals in the district who have been punished in the court. In the last six months in the district, 20 cases were sentenced to imprisonment, out of which 02 cases were life imprisonment, 06 cases were sentenced to one year imprisonment, 149 cases were fined by the Honorable Court, and similarly PD Act was registered in one case, the SP said.
Victims whose mobiles were lost or stolen filed 404 complaints in the CEIR portal within the district and 100 mobile phones were recovered and handed over to the victims.

It was discussed with the officials that what measures can be taken to prevent road accidents in the district. Heavy cades should be placed on the roads to control the speed of vehicles to prevent road accidents. Drunk and drive tests and vehicle inspections should be conducted in each police station every day. During the last 6 months, 3405 drunk and drive cases and 1849 e-petti cases have been registered. The officials were advised to take up the programs.

It is suggested that all officers should take a special initiative in community policing, as part of the Minimum four CCTV Cameras for Village Project, to educate the public and encourage the installation of CC cameras.

In order to effectively implement the functional verticals implemented by the Telangana Police Department and provide effective services to the public, 33 police officers and staff were presented with certificates of appreciation for their outstanding performance in their duties last month.
