RSD-Konaraopet news:  District SP Akhil Mahajan IPS said in a statement on 03.04.2024 that Principal District and Sessions Judge N. Premalatha sentenced the accused to seven years rigorous imprisonment and a fine of Rs.30,000/- in the case of dowry murder. Revathi alias Sirisha, daughter of Ekkala Devayya of Anantapalli village, Chandurthi mandal, got married to a man named Naresh aged 30 years, father Devayya, from Mamidipalli village in the year 2017. At the time of the wedding, as per the wishes of the mother-in-law, they got married with 10 lakh 50 thousand rupees and 70 thousand rupees worth 11 tola gold motorcycle and other formalities.

Naresh’s parents, harassed the bride and her family to give additional dowry and two tolas of gold, sheep and a plot. On the morning of 19th March 2021, when Devayya returned to his village in the morning, he came to know that his daughter had hanged herself to death around four o’clock in the evening. On that day, Sirisha’s father, Devayya, filed an application at the Konaraopet police station stating that his daughter’s husband, aunt and uncle had harassed her for extra dowry and that was the cause of his child’s death. SSI Venkateshwarlu registered a case and the then DSP Chandrakant, took Naresh, his father, mother and daughter to remand. DSP Chandrakant, who was the investigation officer of the case, filed the charge sheet in the court, then court monitoring SSI Srikanth and court constables Mohan, CMS constables Narender and Latif presented witnesses in the court, special PP Narsinga Rao argued the case, and the district court judge N Premalatha, who examined the antecedents of the case, proved the crime. The district SP said in a statement that the accused, Kante Naresh, was sentenced to seven years rigorous imprisonment and a fine of Rs 30,000/-.
