Banned plastic should not be used in function halls – Sircilla

A meeting was arranged with the managers of function halls, shaadi khanas and banquet halls at the 39th ward of the town under the direction of the commissioner at Sircilla Municipal Office on 28.10.2022. In this meeting important issues such as disallowance of banned plastic and single use plastic related items, segregation of generated waste into wet, dry and hazardous waste and providing it to municipal authorities, payment of trade license fees and user charges by local bodies as per Central and State Government directives were discussed. In this regard, the Commissioner said that plastic covers, glasses and single-use plastic related items should not be allowed in function halls, the waste produced in the functions should be separated into wet, dry and harmful waste and should be given to the municipal authorities to make Sircilla a plastic-free town. It has been informed to the people of the town and the managers of the function halls that if plastic covers and plastic related items are allowed in function halls, heavy fines will be imposed. Similarly, as per the directives of the central and state government, the trade license fees and user charges of the local bodies must be paid to the municipal office for urban development.  Town Planning Officers Ansar, Vinay, Environment Engineer Raghu, Srinivas and Municipal Staff participated in this program.
