Strict measures to control drugs

RSD- Sircilla news: District Collector Sandeep Kumar Jha has ordered the concerned officials to take strict measures to control drugs in the district. On 22.05.2025, District Collector Sandeep Kumar Jha held a district-level narco coordination meeting at the Integrated District Collectorate along with SP Mahesh B Geete and other officials. Various issues such as NDPS cases registered in the district, measures to prevent marijuana cultivation, measures to control drug use, programs to be taken by departments to prevent drug use, and widespread publicity about the harms caused by drug use were discussed at length. Speaking on the occasion, District Collector Sandeep Kumar Jha said that a vigil should be kept on the pawn shops in the vicinity of the school. The Collector said that awareness programs on drug control should be organized after the reopening of schools and colleges. He said that open drinking should not take place anywhere in the district. He said that the Tahsildar, MPDO, Police, Mandal Agriculture Officer, Medical Officers in every mandal should hold a meeting with the Panchayat Secretaries and take drug control measures. He said that ganja cultivation should be checked anywhere in the district and steps should be taken to prevent it. He said that the bars and wine shops in the district should follow the government-prescribed time schedule. He said that sudden inspections should be carried out in the vicinity of cinema theaters in the district at night, and drug control awareness programs should be organized under the supervision of Assistant Labor Officer at rice mills and brick kilns in the district, in which videos and posters explaining the harm caused by drugs and ganja should be displayed. The Collector instructed the Medical Officer to keep the urine kits required for conducting drug tests available with the police and excise department officials as required. He said that students who suddenly behave strangely in the college should be identified and if anyone is found to be taking drugs and ganja, they should be provided with necessary counseling. While explaining the awareness about the adverse consequences caused by drugs, he said that officials of various departments should work in coordination to control them and take strong steps to prevent the transportation, cultivation and consumption of drugs. He said that if there is any suspicion of drug and ganja addiction from the village level, information should be provided to the police immediately. Collectorate Section Superintendent Praveen, District Agriculture Department Officer Afzali Begum, Assistant Labor Officer Nassar Ahmed, Drug Inspector Bhavani, Vemulawada Municipal Commissioner Anvesh, Food Safety Officer Anusha, Excise Education Department officials and others participated in this meeting.
